CUPPING NOTES FROM OUR HEAD ROASTER

Grown in the Lefefoho region of East Timor between 1,400 and 1,900 MASL, Ermera produces a washed coffee that is grounded and deeply satisfying. This blend of Timor Hybrid, Typica, Catimor, and Sarchimor varieties carries the full character of its high-altitude origins. The cup leads with the warm spice of gingerbread, rounds out into rich baker's chocolate, and settles into a smooth walnut finish. Straightforward and full of character, it's the kind of coffee that feels right at any hour.

Context

East Timor's Ermera region has emerged as a significant source for distinctive coffees, and this washed lot from the Lefefoho area showcases the regional character through the indigenous Timor Hybrid varietal. Grown between 1400–1900 meters above sea level, the coffee develops a compelling profile of gingerbread, baker's chocolate, and walnut—a combination that suggests both cocoa-forward depth and subtle spice complexity. Press Coffee Roasters has highlighted these warm, grounding notes, which align with what washed processing typically brings to coffees from this origin. The Timor Hybrid's natural resilience and flavor potential make it an essential part of East Timor's coffee identity, offering an accessible entry point to understand the country's growing reputation in specialty coffee.
