Finca El Socorro is a model of sustainable farm management. The river that bisects the farm provides all the water for the wet mill, solar panels generate nearly all the electricity needed for daily operations, and meticulous processing is performed on-site. With four First Place finishes in the Guatemala Cup of Excellence since 2007—two with this Gesha lot—the quality of Juan Diego de la Cerda's coffee speaks for itself.

Context

This Gesha Washed selection from PT's Coffee Roasting highlights the meticulous cultivation of producer Juan Diego de la Cerda in the Palencia region of Guatemala. Grown at 1900 masl, this lot showcases the Gesha varietal, which is widely celebrated in the specialty industry for its distinct floral aromatics and tea-like clarity. By utilizing a washed process, the producer emphasizes the inherent brightness and clean acidity of the bean, allowing the specific characteristics of the terroir to remain at the forefront of the cup.

When evaluating this coffee, tasters may identify notes of white peach, coriander, and clementine. These delicate profiles are often best understood by referencing a flavor wheel, which helps categorize the complex interplay between fruit-forward sweetness and herbal undertones. This offering serves as a refined example of how high-altitude farming and precise post-harvest techniques can elevate the profile of a single-varietal lot.
