From the roaster

We're launching this before football because we can and why not. The name kind of says it all here.

It's a straight up dark roast. This isn't reinventing the wheel. Classic dark "stuff" here. Smoky, earthy, rustic, chocolate, strong. All of it. It comes from a Sumatra mostly and a little bit of a brazil to soften the edges. Makes for a wild espresso.

Context

Produced by Royal Mile Coffee, the "Dallas Still Sucks" lot offers a distinct profile that leans into the traditional characteristics often associated with the Brazil region. While many modern specialty coffees emphasize bright acidity, this selection highlights a more grounded, savory experience. The roaster identifies notes of smoky, earthy, rustic, and chocolate qualities, providing a profile that favors depth and weight over delicate floral aromatics.

When evaluating such a profile, it is helpful to consult the flavor wheel to better categorize these darker, roast-driven sensations. Coffees with these rustic and earthy characteristics often benefit from brewing methods that emphasize body and texture, allowing the chocolate undertones to anchor the cup. This offering serves as a reminder of the diverse range of flavor profiles available within the Brazilian landscape, moving away from tea-like clarity toward a more robust and resonant finish.
