From the roaster

What is jawn? Well frankly - it's a jawn. It's that jawn or it's that jawn over there. It can be any type of jawn. A good jawn. A bad jawn. Your favorite jawn. The new jawn.

It's also a word distinct to Philly. If you're from here, you know what it is. For those who do not, this is what it is.  So of course it's in Eagles green.

This coffee is a pretty classic tasting espresso. Whereas the Royal Mile Espresso is where I find balance in espresso this evokes a bit more of a rustic known type of espresso. You'll get some nuts, some chocolate and a bit of a bite from the darker roast.  So basically this is a darker option and from South America - predominantly Brazil.  If Espresso was too light for the milk based drink give this a whirl.

Context

Produced by Royal Mile Coffee, Espresso Jawn highlights the classic, comforting profile often associated with Brazilian production. Coffees from Brazil are frequently celebrated for their approachable, low-acid characteristics, which provide a reliable foundation for espresso-based drinks. In this specific offering, the roaster identifies prominent notes of nuts and chocolate, a combination that typically anchors the base of the flavor wheel.

While many specialty coffees lean toward bright acidity or complex floral aromatics, this selection prioritizes a traditional, balanced cup. Such profiles are highly valued for their versatility, performing exceptionally well both as a standalone shot and when paired with milk. By focusing on these foundational flavors, Espresso Jawn serves as a quintessential example of the rich, dessert-like qualities that define the classic espresso experience.
