Archive: Kenya Gura AA

Juicy, jammy and expressive, this year’s AA lot from Gura is nothing short of delicious. Tropical guava notes greet your palate with the first sip, followed by a sweet strawberry and fudge finish.

The Kenya Gura AA, sourced from the Gura producer, represents the vibrant profile often associated with high-quality Kenyan lots. Roasted by Verve Coffee Roasters, this selection highlights a distinct flavor profile featuring notes of guava, strawberry, and fudge. While Kenyan coffees are frequently celebrated for their bright, phosphoric acidity and complex fruit-forward characteristics, the inclusion of fudge notes in this specific roast suggests a unique depth and sweetness that balances the cup.

When evaluating such a profile, it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better categorize these nuanced sensations. Kenyan coffees are typically processed using the double-fermentation washed method, which often contributes to the clarity and intensity of their fruit-driven profiles. This particular offering from the Gura producer serves as a compelling example of the region's ability to produce coffees that are both structurally complex and deeply satisfying to the palate.
