From the roaster

Drifft Half Caff No.6 combines two exceptional coffees: 50% decaf using the Ethyl Acetate Process, featuring beans from Brazil and DR Congo. and the other 50% using natural process coffee with beans from Brazil and Peru.

Crafted from four incredible farms, this post-blend creation offers a balanced, smooth profile with half the caffeine, perfect for those who want to drift peacefully through their day without the caffeine highs or lows.

Fun fact: The name “Drifft” is inspired by its Welsh roots, symbolising both a calm drift through your day and a nod to a drift mine entrance. A new mindful coffee.

Context

The Drifft Half Caff No.6, produced by Coaltown Coffee, represents a thoughtful approach to the decaffeination process, balancing flavor intensity with a reduced caffeine profile. By blending caffeinated and decaffeinated components, roasters can create a consistent cup that maintains the structural integrity of the bean while offering a more accessible experience for those sensitive to stimulants.

In the cup, this specific lot presents a profile defined by rich, confectionary sweetness, featuring notes of chocolate, butterscotch, and Daim. When evaluating such dessert-forward profiles, it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better identify the nuances between sugar-browning and cocoa-based descriptors. While many specialty coffees focus on bright acidity, this selection highlights the comforting, indulgent side of the spectrum, making it an excellent candidate for those who prefer a smooth, heavy-bodied brew that lingers on the palate with a classic, sweet finish.
