If you would like this coffee ground, please add a note to your order! Coffees that are part of the End of Season Sale have limited quantities so you will need to add Whole Beans to your cart and then provide a note with how you would like it ground.

Another of Ethiopia's best from our most recent buying round, which has been a particularly good year! This time a washed process coffee from Halo Beriti Washing Station, roasted for espresso. Halo Beriti serves 750 small holder farmers in the region, our favourite way to buy coffee. From larger groups of quality focussed small holder farmers producing some of the most stand out coffees available. This particular lot is a “special prep” meaning it has gone through an extra round of hand sorting to make sure only the best of the crop makes it into the bags. Jammy apricot with mild toffee flavours. Juicy malic acidity and clean fruit-like sweetness.

Context

Sourced from the Gadeb district of Yirgacheffe, this Ethiopia Halo Beriti Espresso is produced by a local cooperative and features a blend of heirloom Ethiopian varieties. As a washed coffee, it undergoes a meticulous processing method that typically emphasizes the inherent clarity and acidity of the bean, allowing the specific terroir of the region to shine through. Everyday Coffee has roasted this lot to highlight a profile defined by jammy apricot and toffee notes.

When evaluating such profiles, enthusiasts often reference the flavor wheel to better articulate the nuances between stone fruit sweetness and caramelized sugar tones. While washed coffees from this region are celebrated for their bright, tea-like elegance, the specific character of this espresso reflects the careful cultivation practices of the Gadeb cooperative. It serves as a refined example of how traditional processing techniques can balance complex fruit characteristics with a structured, dessert-like finish.
