Context
Kenya's Meru region continues a strong tradition of washed processing that emphasizes clarity and complexity. This particular lot from Mutheru Factory showcases the SL28 varietal, a heritage cultivar known for its ability to express distinctive fruit-forward characteristics. Father Carpenter has highlighted nectarine, hibiscus, and red grape in their roasting—a profile that reflects what washed processing typically draws out in African coffees. The washed method allows for cleaner fermentation and brighter acidity, creating space for these layered fruit notes to emerge distinctly in the cup. Drip bags make this coffee accessible for travel or office settings while maintaining the complexity expected from this origin and process combination.
