Gaturiri mill has been serving smallholder farmers in the Nyeri highlands since the mid-60s. Each member tends an average of 300 coffee shrubs, delivering cherry one designated day per week during the November-January main harvest. This lot is a single week's worth of peaberry separation, a small, sweet bonus from an already exceptional harvest.
Bright and a little wild, this peaberry pulls you in with tart dried raspberry and fun, candy-sweet top notes, then settles into blackberry, plum, stonefruit, and dried currants, with rose threading through the finish. It's a lively cup with a lot going on in the best way.

Context
From Nyeri in Kenya's highlands, this washed peaberry from the Gaturiri mill showcases the region's classic fruit-forward character. Built on SL 28 and SL 34—heirloom varietals prized for their complexity—the coffee delivers a layered stone-fruit profile: blackberry and plum anchor the cup, while dried currants and subtle rose notes add refinement. Peaberries, the naturally smaller beans that occasionally form within coffee cherries, are often sought for their concentrated flavor potential. Four Barrel Coffee has roasted this lot to highlight the delicate balance between the varietal's inherent brightness and the deeper, dried-fruit sweetness typical of Kenyan coffees from this origin.
