About: Finca Los Alpes sits high in the Dipilto Mountains of northern Nicaragua, close to the Honduran border. Managed by Olman Valladárez, the farm grows a range of varieties, with its youngest Geisha trees producing their first harvest in 2023.

Those young trees made quite the entrance. Olman’s natural Geisha took first place in Nicaragua’s Cup of Excellence in 2023, 2024 and again in 2026, establishing Los Alpes as one of the country’s standout producers. The Geisha planted here comes from Panamanian stock, bringing the genetic potential for exceptional quality and a distinctly tropical cup profile.

This lot is naturally processed, allowing the fruit character of the Geisha to shine. Beyond coffee, the Valladárez family supports local public health campaigns and community celebrations, with a focus on building a sustainable, family-minded culture around the people who grow and produce their coffees.

Context

Sourced from the Dipilto region of Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, this lot represents a meticulous collaboration with producer Olman Valladárez. The coffee features the Geisha varietal, a plant celebrated globally for its distinct floral aromatics and tea-like clarity. By utilizing a natural processing method, the cherries are dried in their entirety, a technique that often imparts a heavier body and intensified fruit-forward characteristics compared to washed counterparts.

Roasted by Proud Mary Coffee, this specific selection highlights the unique terroir of the 1650 masl landscape in Nicaragua. When evaluating the complexities of such a high-elevation Geisha, tasters may find it helpful to reference the flavor wheel to identify the nuanced notes present in the cup. This entry serves as a testament to the intersection of careful agricultural management and precise roasting, offering a refined experience for those exploring the diverse profiles of Central American specialty coffee.
