Colonna Coffee

Colonna Coffee was founded by Maxwell and Lesley, whose coffee journey began in Melbourne, Australia in 2008, where they encountered the third wave coffee movement. In 2009, they opened Colonna & Small's, a destination coffee shop in Bath, UK, dedicated to showcasing exceptional coffees and fostering conversation around the drink. The shop received international recognition, including a 'Best Coffee Shop in Europe' award in 2016. The roastery was launched in 2015 to give the team greater control over sourcing and flavour profiling. Colonna has co-authored published scientific papers on topics including water science, frozen grinding, sensory science, and sustainability. Maxwell has competed in global barista championships, winning the UK Barista Championship in 2012, 2014, and 2015. In 2023, Colonna expanded to London with a shop on Leather Lane, designed, like the Bath original, to present a curated and ever-changing coffee menu and encourage dialogue around coffee.
