From the roaster

Context

The Cola Special, sourced from the Guji region of Ethiopië, represents a distinct offering from producer Tesfaye Bekele. This lot is prepared using an advanced natural process, a technique that often influences the final cup profile by intensifying sweetness and body. As detailed in our processing methods explainer, such methods require meticulous control to achieve clarity alongside the characteristic fruit-forward intensity. When evaluating the roaster’s specific notes of cherry cola, blackcurrant, and red grapes, it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better understand how these complex fruit acids interact on the palate. This coffee is brought to you by Bocca Coffee, a roaster known for highlighting the unique terroir of their selections. By focusing on the intersection of regional origin and careful post-harvest handling, this entry provides a snapshot of the vibrant, expressive profiles currently emerging from Guji’s evolving coffee landscape.
