Context

This selection from Coffea Roasterie highlights the work of producer Reinel Borbon in the Colombia · Huila region. Grown at 1850 masl, this lot features the Caturra varietal, a staple in specialty coffee known for its balanced profile and adaptability. What distinguishes this specific offering is the yeast inoculated washed process, a technique that builds upon traditional processing methods to influence the final cup profile.

While washed coffees are typically celebrated for their clean acidity and clarity, the addition of yeast inoculation can introduce unique fermentation-driven characteristics. In this instance, the roaster identifies notes of berry candy, cotton candy, and a creamy mouthfeel. These descriptors, which can be mapped using the flavor wheel, suggest a profile that bridges the gap between the crispness expected of a washed coffee and the heightened sweetness often sought by modern enthusiasts. This lot serves as a compelling example of how precise post-harvest intervention can elevate a classic varietal.
