Context

La Estrella represents a collaborative effort from 126 producers in the Nueva Segovia region of Nicaragua. As a washed coffee, this lot highlights the clean, bright acidity often associated with the region’s high-quality output. The Five Senses roast profile emphasizes a classic sweetness, featuring notes of brown sugar, caramel, and molasses balanced by vibrant citrus elements like lime and mandarin.

Understanding the impact of post-harvest techniques is essential for any enthusiast; while washed coffees are typically celebrated for their clarity and consistency, processing methods play a fundamental role in shaping the final cup profile. To better identify the nuances between the deep, sugary base notes and the bright, zesty top notes found in this Nicaraguan selection, we recommend referencing the flavor wheel. This tool provides a structured way to categorize the complex sensory experience offered by La Estrella, helping to distinguish between the various layers of sweetness and acidity present in each brew.
