Raspberry & cranberry, buttery body with a long lavender aftertaste.

This experimental lot was crafted by the team at Long Miles Coffee. Natural passionfruit juice was added to the tanks of de-pulped cherries during the fermentation phase. Following this, the coffee underwent the normal procedure for fully washed coffees. The results have been spectacular as the natural flavours of the passionfruit and coffee combined to create a unique medley which is easily distinguishable from standard washed lots. Expect raspberry and cranberry, a big buttery body with a long lavender aftertaste.

Context

Sourced from Nkonge Hill and produced by Long Miles Coffee, this lot represents the meticulous work of a dedicated team focused on regional quality. As a washed coffee, it undergoes a processing method that typically emphasizes the inherent clarity and acidity of the bean, allowing the specific terroir of the Nkonge Hill region to shine through. Roaster Five Senses highlights a vibrant profile featuring raspberry, cranberry, and lavender.

When evaluating such distinct profiles, it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better identify the nuances between berry-like acidity and delicate floral aromatics. While washed coffees are often celebrated for their clean, bright characteristics, the specific expression of these notes is a testament to the careful cultivation practices employed at the farm level. This selection offers a refined look at the potential of the region, balancing tart fruit tones with subtle, elegant floral undertones.
