Context

Produced by Luis Alberto Balladarez in the Nueva Segovia region of Nicaragua, this lot showcases the unique potential of the Paraiso varietal. Grown at an elevation of 1550-1800 masl, the coffee undergoes a natural process, a technique where the fruit remains intact during drying to influence the final cup profile. Generally, natural-processed coffees are known for their heavier body and pronounced fruit-forward characteristics, often resulting in complex, wine-like acidity.

Roasted by Ozo Coffee, this specific selection highlights vibrant notes of blood orange, maraschino cherry, and mulled wine. These distinct flavors invite drinkers to explore the nuances of the bean, which can be further categorized using a flavor wheel to better understand the interplay between the processing method and the inherent qualities of the Paraiso varietal. This offering serves as a compelling example of how meticulous cultivation and careful post-harvest handling shape the sensory experience of Nicaraguan specialty coffee.
