Thrilled to introduce the newest addition to our Colombian Origin Project, sourced through our longtime friends at Azahar Coffee.

This exceptional single-origin coffee comes from Nidia A. Morales and her farm, La Ledra. Grown at high elevation and carefully processed, this is a lot we've returned, one of those coffees that continues to remind us why we love Nariño.

In the cup you'll find a delicate boquette of florals and citrus, carried by beautifully balanced structure and a long, rounded finish. It's a coffee with both elegance and depth, offering the kind of clarity and sweetness that keeps drawing us back to the cupping table.

We've purchased this coffee more than once because it consistently delivers the qualities we look for. Each harvest is a fresh expression of Nidia's work, but it continues to capture so much of what we love about Nariño: vibrant acidity, ranged tones, and effortless balance.

It's a coffee we look forward to tasting every season, and we're excited to share this year's harvest with you.

Context

This offering from Gracenote Coffee highlights a specific lot produced by Nidia Adriana Morales in the Colombia · Nariño region. Grown at 2100 masl, this coffee features the Caturra varietal, which is widely recognized for its adaptability and consistent cup quality. The beans undergo a washed process, a method typically employed to emphasize the inherent acidity and clean profile of the coffee cherry.

In the cup, the roaster identifies notes of lemon citrus candy, white peach, and honeycomb. When evaluating these descriptors, one might consult the flavor wheel to better understand how these specific fruit and sugar-based characteristics interact. While washed coffees are often celebrated for their clarity and brightness, the unique terroir of Nariño frequently contributes to the distinct, vibrant profiles found in high-altitude Colombian harvests. This selection serves as a focused example of how careful cultivation and processing can highlight the nuanced sweetness of the Caturra variety.
