This single-origin coffee without caffeine, comes from exceptional lots grown by smallholder producers throughout Guatemala. Each lot is selected for its cup quality, careful preparation, and ability to retain its distinctive character through the decaffeination process.

After harvest, the coffee is fully washed before being decaffeinated using the Swiss Water® Process. This chemical-free method gently removes caffeine with water while preserving the coffee's natural flavor and complexity. The result is a balanced, flavorful cup that's perfect for enjoying throughout the day and evening.

This coffee is certified Organic by the Montana Department of Agriculture.

Context

Sourced from Guatemala, this Organic Guatemala Decaf is prepared by Montana Coffee Traders using the traditional washed process. While washed coffees are generally celebrated for their clean, bright acidity and ability to highlight the inherent characteristics of the bean, this specific selection offers a comforting profile defined by notes of cherry, walnut, and molasses.

Decaffeinated coffees often benefit from this processing method, as it helps maintain a balanced cup that avoids the heavy fermentation notes sometimes found in other techniques. When evaluating the nuances of such a profile, drinkers may find it helpful to reference a flavor wheel to better identify the interplay between the fruit-forward cherry tones and the deeper, earthier qualities of walnut and molasses. This offering provides a reliable, flavorful experience for those seeking a decaffeinated option that retains the classic, structured character typical of high-quality Guatemalan beans.
