From the roaster

A cool off origin for dry process selection alongside a Kenya offering. It does the thing you'd expect plus a Rwanda thing. I always get apples and rich red fruits in washed so the dry processing adds a great deal on top of that. Blackberry, Winey and a quasi fruit bomb. Big thumbs up for espresso nerds.

Context

The Rwanda Nyamiyaga Dry Process, offered by Royal Mile Coffee, represents a distinct expression of Rwandan coffee production. By utilizing the dry process, this lot undergoes a method where the coffee cherry is dried intact around the seed, a technique often associated with increased body and complex, fruit-forward profiles. For those interested in how these techniques influence the final cup, our processing methods explainer provides a deeper look at the mechanics behind this style.

In the cup, this coffee presents a vibrant array of flavors, including apples, rich red fruits, blackberry, and a winey character. These descriptors align with the broader spectrum of fruit-forward profiles often explored when using a flavor wheel to evaluate specialty coffee. As a dry-processed selection from Rwanda, this offering highlights the unique intersection of regional terroir and traditional post-harvest handling, resulting in a profile that is both bold and deeply layered.
