Context
The 2026 Karatu, an AB separation from the Kiambu region of Kenya, represents the meticulous sourcing standards of Sey Coffee. Kenyan coffees are frequently celebrated for their vibrant acidity and complex, layered profiles, often characterized by bright, berry-forward qualities. When evaluating such distinct profiles, tasters often reference the flavor wheel to identify the nuanced interplay between tart and floral elements.
In this specific lot, the roaster highlights notes of rhubarb, hibiscus, and red currant. These descriptors reflect the characteristic brightness often sought in high-quality Kenyan lots, where the interplay of terroir and processing creates a crisp, refreshing cup. By focusing on the AB separation, this coffee showcases the specific bean sizing and quality control typical of the region’s traditional grading systems. As you explore these flavors, consider how the delicate floral notes of hibiscus balance the sharper, fruit-driven acidity of red currant and rhubarb.
