Context

Produced by Finca Juan Martin in the Cauca region of Colombia, this lot showcases the distinct profile of the Gesha varietal. Known globally for its exceptional elegance, the Gesha plant is often prized for its floral, tea-like clarity and complex aromatics. This specific offering from Dogwood Coffee has been prepared using the washed process, a method typically employed to highlight the inherent acidity and clean finish of the bean.

In the cup, the roaster identifies notes of kumquat and Oolong, a combination that reflects the delicate balance often sought in high-quality washed coffees. When evaluating these nuances, drinkers may find it helpful to reference a flavor wheel to better categorize the bright citrus and herbal tea characteristics present in this selection. By focusing on the intersection of precise processing and a celebrated varietal, this coffee offers a refined look at the potential of the Cauca landscape.
