About: Proud Mary’s connection to the Santa Barbara region of Honduras began in 2012 when we were introduced to a small group of producers based around the town of Peña Blanca, near the shores of the stunning Lake Yojoa. More than a decade later, that group has grown, and our relationships have deepened. 

In 2018, we noticed that these producers were doing so well that their production was increasing faster than we could sell it. Enter… Chicos Buenos (Good Guys). Chicos Buenos is a community blend we created with our producers in Santa Barbara, allowing us to continue purchasing more of their coffee. Because this coffee is a blend of several different lots, it scores higher than any of the individual components—it truly is greater than the sum of its parts. 

For the 2025 harvest, the producers contributing to this blend are Armando Guzman, Javier Fernandez, Nahun Fernandez, and Balbina Sabillon.

Sourced from the Santa Barbara region of Honduras, this lot represents a collaborative effort by producers Armando Guzman, Javier Fernandez, Nahun Fernandez, and Balbina Sabillon. The coffee features a blend of Bourbon and Parainema varietals, cultivated at elevations between 1500 and 1650 meters above sea level. By utilizing a washed process, the producers emphasize the inherent clarity and structural acidity often associated with this traditional preparation method.

Roasted by Proud Mary Coffee, this selection highlights the distinct terroir of Santa Barbara. While washed coffees are frequently celebrated for their clean, vibrant profiles, the specific interplay of these varietals offers a unique expression of the region's output.
