Coffee Details

We have purchased from the Gora Kone washing station year after year and it remains one of our absolute favorite coffees. The intense fruit notes clearly represent the best qualities of the famed Sidamo region. We love to bring in both the washed and natural processed coffees from Gora Kone, each unique and sweet in their own way. Around 700 small farms contribute to the Gora Kone washing station. Most producers have farms around 3 hectares, growing their coffee in the shade of wanza and acacia trees.  Brew Recipes

Context

The Ethiopia Gora Kone Natural, sourced by Case Coffee Roasters, represents the vibrant profile characteristic of the Sidamo region. As a natural-processed coffee, the cherry is dried with the fruit intact, a technique that often imparts a distinct sweetness and heavy body to the final cup. While natural-processed coffees tend to show heavier fruit and jammy qualities, this specific lot highlights a bright, berry-forward profile featuring notes of guava, blueberry, and strawberry.

Understanding the impact of post-harvest handling is essential for appreciating these complex flavors. You can explore the nuances of how different processing methods influence the cup profile, or use the flavor wheel to better identify and articulate the specific fruit characteristics found in this Ethiopian selection. This coffee serves as a compelling example of how traditional drying practices in Sidamo can produce exceptionally expressive and fruit-driven results.
