From the roaster

A very limited nice and modestly fruity decaffy decaf. It's been fruit fermented so there's an element of that going on but know the decaf process is a gigantic space torpedo that nukes the dinosaurs in which cause the dinosaurs are the coffee. The fruits exist, and I get passion fruit but you may just get bread. Such is the decaf life.  Cool thing is because it's EA from colombia that means some origin coffee tastes exist so expect this to have 97% caffeine removed and taste a bit like a real coffee. Such is the EA decaf life.

Context

This Colombia Decaf Natural, roasted by Royal Mile Coffee, offers a unique profile that challenges common expectations for decaffeinated offerings. Sourced from Colombia, this lot utilizes a natural process, a method where the coffee cherry remains intact while drying. Generally, natural-processed coffees are known for their heavier body and pronounced fruit-forward characteristics, often resulting in a more complex cup profile.

The roaster identifies distinct notes of passion fruit and bread in this specific selection. When evaluating such unconventional flavor combinations, it can be helpful to consult a flavor wheel to better categorize the interplay between the bright, tropical acidity and the deeper, toasted cereal undertones. By combining traditional Colombian origin characteristics with a meticulous natural processing approach, this decaf provides a nuanced experience that highlights how careful handling can preserve distinct sensory qualities even after the caffeine removal process.
