From the roaster

Another one of those expected types of coffee - we are late in the season and new arrivals on the way. Still nice, still does the berry fruity funky thing. Just not as vibrant as coffees landing in a few weeks. No shade, just real talking.

Context

The Ethiopia Dry Process Bulga, offered by Royal Mile Coffee, represents a classic expression of the Ethiopia coffee tradition. As a dry-processed selection, this coffee undergoes a method where the fruit remains intact during drying, a technique often associated with distinct, bold profiles. Generally, natural-processed coffees tend to show heavier fruit characteristics and increased sweetness compared to their washed counterparts, as the bean absorbs sugars directly from the drying cherry. You can learn more about the nuances of these processing methods to better understand how this technique influences the final cup. When evaluating the specific berry, fruity, and funky notes identified by the roaster, it can be helpful to reference the flavor wheel to categorize these complex sensations. This lot serves as a compelling example of how traditional drying practices can highlight the vibrant, idiosyncratic qualities inherent in Ethiopian heirloom varieties.
